Ellie
Visitor from Massachusetts: Ellie
The following is an excerpt from a testimonial written by Ellie to VASH:
“Aloha! We hope you are well and your organization continues to thrive! Thank you so much for all your help in Honolulu. It was wonderful, and a real treat to meet you. My best to you always.”
Husband Stephen and his wife Ellie were cruising the Pacific Ocean and touring the island of Hawaii when Stephen suffered a medical emergency on the ship. Stephen was then medivac’d to the Queen’s Medical Center. Ellie had nowhere to stay while her husband was in the hospital. VASH suggested a couple of places where Ellie could stay while Stephen recovered. In addition, to finding good accommodations for Ellie, VASH volunteers also went to visit Stephen at the hospital. VASH wants to let visitors know that even though they are far from family and friends, we truly care about them as if they are “ohana.” VASH also provided the Stephen and Ellie with a goodie bag containing tourist souvenirs and meal coupons, and Ellie even returned some of the items that she didn’t need.
In the picture above, you can see how pleased Ellie was with VASH and all their assistance. The Stephen and Ellie were able to “salvage” their vacation and make the most of it; but, if it weren’t for VASH’s help and moral support, it would not have been a trip to remember.
