“I’m writing this email on behalf of my wife Annie who was recently in Honolulu, with the Australian contingent, at the Sweet Adelines Convention. Unfortunately she took ill & had to spend several days in [the] hospital. All her Aussie friends had departed Honolulu & she was left there sick & lonely, until two of your wonderful volunteers turned up; they were Erika Wyrtki & Hilkka Easterwood. In Annie’s words ‘they were just wonderful, marvellous & so helpful’. They visited her every day in the hospital & took her back to the hotel when she was discharged, making sure she was settled in & comforatable, then came to see her each day at the hotel. When it was time for her to leave Honolulu … they picked her up from the hotel at 6am. & took her to the airport & helped her check-in etc.
Would you please tell Erika & Hilkka how much Annie appreciated everything they did for her, they made such a difference & please tell them that she’s now feeling better. I would also like to thank Erika & Hilkka for everything they did, it helped put my mind at ease knowing that there was someone there to help her along. Once again, a big thank you to you & the Aloha Society for ‘being there’. Our regards & best wishes to you all.”
